Many Many Happy Returns of the Day, IIT Bombay!

And no more, we can call it our Diamond Jubilee Year, no doubt it was all enthralling, fulfilling and we did witness some great celebrations yet, as they say, time and tide waits for no one. Honestly, for some, it might be a bit of low down. Takes away the will of celebration, ain't it?

Yet we are here to embrace it and I'll give you a perspective. Our Diamond Jubilee was a kickstarter in many ways, a thrust towards the road to excellence /eminence, a revitalization of our desires to achieve greater recognition internationally, thanks to our outstanding performance as indicated by some well recognized international markers. So rather than calling this a celebration for our 61st year of existence, we rather call it an instigation of an era. We do have a long road ahead and we are here to celebrate a leap forward.

An institution is made up of people and celebrating its success is equivalent to celebrating people who are part of it. The institute had long felt the need to recognize the Alumni of IIT Bombay who have distinguished themselves in their field of work and done the institute proud. With this intention, the Distinguished Alumnus awards have been instituted. The awards are bestowed upon every year on or around 10th March, Foundation Day.
